I first visited Japan in 1989 when I was twenty years old. Returning after more than 35 years, I decided to carry around my clunky medium-format film camera and an iPhone to capture the essence of the streets.
A long reflection on a seemingly unremarkable federal heritage site in my Ottawa neighbourhood. I layer contemporary photographs of Geomatics Canada over vintage topographical maps, originally created in the same building in the late 1950s. Companion cyanotypes detail architectural elements.
Toronto was my home for nearly a decade in the early aughts. I shot mostly storefronts in transition. The photos here are from that time and more recent returns to the neighbourhoods I lived in.
